Thomas Partey is expected to play less than 20 league games this season due to chronic fitness issues, despite being a key player for Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.
Despite keeping Partey in the summer, the Gunners may now regret not trading him, considering his limited contribution this season. With one season remaining on Partey’s contract at the end of current season, Arsenal is apparently looking to replace him.
According to The Sun, Arsenal is looking at Martin Zubimendi as a possible alternative for the Ghanaian midfielder. Zubimendi, who has routinely performed well for Real Sociedad in recent seasons, has piqued Arsenal’s interest.
Mikel Arteta is apparently interested in working with the 25-year-old Spaniard, who has developed into a good performer at Sociedad. Although Zubimendi refused a move in the summer, Arsenal is hoping to persuade him to sign at the end of the season.
Our Opinion
Partey’s lack of fitness has been a source of frustration for us in recent months, and we must replace him while we can in order to capitalize on his services during the summer.
