Currently serving as the club’s assistant manager, Lijnders, who addressed the press ahead of Sunday’s League Cup final against Chelsea, will depart the club alongside Klopp in the summer.

The 41-year-old acknowledged his emotional attachment to Merseyside but cited his ‘respect’ for Klopp as the reason for mutually concluding their tenure at the end of the current season.

While preferring not to focus on himself with the impending Wembley clash just 48 hours away, Lijnders briefly elaborated on his decision.

The former PSV Eindhoven coach expressed his enthusiasm for the prospect of becoming a manager, emphasizing that the summer presents the right opportunity for Liverpool to introduce new coaches with fresh perspectives.
