‘Not too happy’: Ally McCoist thinks £50m Chelsea man really let his teammates down in first half vs Liverpool

Pundit Ally McCoist has now claimed that he believes one Chelsea player let his teammates down badly in the first half tonight.

He told TNT Sports that he believes Raheem Sterling was to blame when Liverpool made it 2-0 in the first half.

The hosts were absolutely dominant in the opening 45 as they completely blew Chelsea away from the first whistle.

Diogo Jota made it 1-0 to the Reds after he forced his way through a fragile backline, before youngster Conor Bradley made it two with a fine finish.

While Jurgen Klopp’s side broke brilliantly to double their lead, there will be questions asked of Mauricio Pochettino’s side about how the chance came about.

McCoist questioned Sterling after how the right-back had all the time in the world to pick his spot and beat Djordje Petrovic.

McCoist criticises Sterling

He said: “Not too happy with Raheem Sterling, who allows the run of Bradley. I think he switches off, but he does have a lot to do.”

Back at the ground where he made his name as a Premier League player, the home crowd let Sterling know just how unpopular he was there these days.

He also struggled to get anything going in attack, as the Blues meandered to defeat against the league leaders.

It will not be lost on Pochettino and his side just how much better they will need to be in a few weeks’ time when they meet again in the EFL Cup final.
