Monitoring: Chelsea now considering hiring Premier League manager to replace Mauricio Pochettino

Journalist Nicolo Schira has now claimed that Chelsea are monitoring a manager from the Premier League to potentially replace Mauricio Pochettino at the end of the season.

He took to Twitter to state that the club are considering attempting to hire Roberto de Zerbi from Brighton if they need to find themselves another manager in the coming months.Pressure is firmly back on Mauricio Pochettino after his Chelsea side were beaten in damning circumstances at Wembley at the weekend.

They lost 1-0 to Liverpool after Virgil van Dijk’s late header brought heartbreak on his players.

As the Argentine’s wait for a trophy in England goes on, talk has returned of some at the club looking to replace the manager again.

It has been hard to find a manager whose time at the club can be seen as a success so far, with it now being claimed they are looking to a familiar setting if a tough decision is made.

Schira has now claimed that the Blues are keeping tabs on De Zerbi ahead of a potential hiring.

He said: “Chelsea are monitoring Roberto De Zerbi for the next season.“

De Zerbi took over from Graham Potter at Brighton after he was hired for the Chelsea job last year, however that experiment didn’t even make it to the end of the season.

Since taking over at the Amex, the Italian has led the side to heights they perhaps never even expected to reach.

If Pochettino is replaced, it is likely there will be a number of managers on the shortlist to be brought in by the club.

There are a few bosses around Europe who they would surely consider, after interviewing a number of names for the role at the end of last season.

It does feel as if the Argentine has just a few games left to save his job at Stamford Bridge.
