BREAKING NEWS: Behdad Eghbali now wants to hire 42-year-old to replace Mauricio Pochettino as Chelsea manager
Reports have claimed that Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali has already made his mind up on a potential new manager at Stamford Bridge.
According to SportsZone, Todd Boehly’s partner in crime is a huge admirer of one boss, and would like him to replace Mauricio Pochettino.
Pressure mounted even further on Pochettino yesterday as he oversaw an embarrassing result at home against Wolves.
Their opponents secured the league double on the Blues with a thumping 4-2 victory at Stamford Bridge, with Pedro Neto and Matheus Cunha running the show for the visitors.
Cole Palmer’s bright performance was not enough for the Blues, who racked up the unfortunate record of conceding eight goals in a week.
Chelsea fans made their feelings clear inside the stadium after what they saw, with a significant portion of the distaste being towards the boss.
Eghbali wants Alonso
Up until now, there have been no real reports of those upstairs at the club looking to other candidates to bring to West London.
However, it has now been reported that Eghbali in particular has Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso on his mind as a target for the job.
The Spaniard is excelling over in Germany at the moment, with his side top of the table ahead of Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich.
His future is already being spoken about ahead of the end of the season, with the Liverpool job up for grabs at the end of the season following Jurgen Klopp’s announcement.
It does feel as if Pochettino is going to be safe for this month at least, with him surely getting the opportunity to take charge of the EFL Cup final at the end of February.
However, with the current league form and position it can’t be ignored that he is underperforming right now, and supporters will not settle for these levels forever.
