Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, Manchester City\’s forward, affirmed that there are many aspects he aims to improve in the upcoming period.
Haaland recently returned from an injury that kept him out for two months and is ready to start the match against Brentford scheduled for tomorrow as part of the Premier League\’s 23rd round.
Haaland pointed out that he needs to work more collaboratively with his teammates at Manchester City.
In statements to the club\’s website, Haaland said, “There are many things that I still need to improve. When you play many matches, it is challenging to train because you have to prepare and do things that make you fit for the next match.”
He added, “I want to become better with the team, be tougher with Manchester City, and perform in the biggest matches. I also want to replicate the things we did last season.”
Haaland led Manchester City to achieve the historical treble for the first time in the club\’s history (Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League) during his first season at the Etihad Stadium.
Regarding his start with Manchester City, he said, “In the first weeks and months for me, I wanted to adapt to the team as quickly as possible, to get to know the people and the club as a whole, and how they play.”
He continued, “My goal was to win the UEFA Champions League. That\’s what I said when I came here.”
He added, “Since the first day I came here, I enjoyed it. There is a good atmosphere in the dressing room, so I felt it was a place I wanted to come to and an environment I wanted to be in, and I think everyone saw that on the field as well.”
He continued, “The club had won the Premier League twice in a row before my arrival, so there was a lot of pressure in the third season.”
He went on, “We were behind the top spot for 248 days or something like that, so there was significant pressure. If I came and we didn\’t win the Premier League, they would say, \’You came and destroyed everything!\'”
He concluded, “But to win it, we delivered a good performance, as well as in the UEFA Champions League and, of course, the FA Cup. Getting the complete treble was unrealistic, and I had an amazing first season.”
