NEWS: €65 million striker OFFICIALLY responds to reports Chelsea want him
Lille striker Jonathan David has responded to the speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea
His performances have led to speculation that both CHELSEA FC and Newcastle are interested in getting some kind of transfer deal done in the January window – as the two both looked to add some more depth to the squad.
Chelsea only Nicolas Jackson as their main striker – and although Armando Broja is a decent back-up – he is not the quality that David would bring to that Blues squad if signed.
The Canadian international – rated at €65 million – is one of the most highly-rated striker in Europe and a player that the Chelsea board believe they could turn into one of the best players in Europe, according to reports on the Sun Website.
The transfer window has not brought the type of business that many people had hoped for and Chelsea have struggled to make any serious offers for their top transfer targets – which has meant that they have had to change tactics
Such speculation has been pointed out to David in a recent interview with Telefoot. The Canada international admitted to being ‘flattered’ by the rumours linking him with a move to clubs such as Chelsea.
“When you’re young, these are the clubs you watch and think about,” David said. “It’s flattering, I appreciate that.”David is a very good young striker that has already proven that he has the ability to score goals at the very highest level of the game – so for the right amount of money – he would be a solid addition to the side.CHELSEA FC fans would prefer the club sign someone like Victor Osimhen or Ivan Toney – but David would be a very good third option for th Blues if they are unable to get their top targets all signed up.
