Chelsea will face a replay against Aston Villa after the two sides played out a goalless draw in the fourth round on Friday evening.
The Blues had won their previous seven home matches across all competitions prior to the game, but Mauricio Pochettino’s side were unable to find a winner despite dominating their opponents for the majority.
Several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, are yet to sign a single player during the current January transfer window, despite the deadline now being just days away.
Since Todd Boehly took charge of the London club in 2022, Chelsea have spent more than £1 billion on new recruits, but it appears that they may be set to complete another marquee signing this summer.
As per Sacha Tavolieri via The Standard, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has ‘chosen’ to join Chelsea this summer.
The Nigeria international – who is current at the Africa Cup of Nations – has established himself as one of the best strikers in world football in recent seasons, netting 26 league goals last term to help propel Napoli to a first Serie A title in three decades.
Having joined the Italian side from Lille back in 2020, the 25-year-old has scored 67 goals in 119 matches across all competitions for Napoli, as well as providing 17 assists.
Despite his importance to the Naples outfit, Osimhen is expected to depart the club during the upcoming summer transfer window and the report suggests that the Nigerian is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are therefore regarded as the leading contenders to land the striker, despite signing Nicolas Jackson from Spanish side Villarreal last summer.
Osimhen’s current contract with Napoli is set to expire in 2026, and it has been suggested that he could command a fee in excess of £100 million this summer.
