Erling Haaland’s ‘unbelievable’ open-goal miss had Rodri punching the air and both Gary Neville and Roy Keane left in disbelief.
Moments before the end of the first half Phil Foden headed across goal to leave in-form Haaland the enviable opportunity to convert from a couple of yards out.
Instead the Norwegian striker got under the ball and clipped it over the bar, to the disbelief of those on the pitch and in the TV studio.
‘Oh my gosh. What has he just done. What has he not done,’ Neville said in commentary.
They\’ve been working it and working it and finally we thought they got perfection. Until that. He missed chances a few weeks ago against Chelsea.
‘Pep Guardiola cannot believe it. It\’s a startling thing we’ve just seen. Is he trying to put it into the top of the net? Is he trying to be clever?’
At half-time back in the studio, former Man City defender Micah Richards and Keane struggled to determine how he had missed it.
‘This is unbelievable. I can’t explain it,’ Keane told Sky Sports.
‘He just has to head it or a softer touch. He’s probably thinking he’s already scored.’
‘Look at the reaction from Rodri, he can’t believe it,’ Richards continued. ‘Haaland as well in disbelief.’
The reaction of Rodri was not lost on viewers, with the Spanish midfielder turning away from goal and throwing punches into the air in pure frustration.
It was a dominant half by City but they went into the interval behind following Marcus Rashford’s wonder-goal to fire Man United ahead.
